Feed selected Gmail messages into ReminderStream

Gmail can automatically forward matching incoming emails. After setup in Gmail on the web, forwarding happens in Gmail and does not depend on leaving your computer on.

Coming soon: automatic Gmail forwarding

ReminderStream does not yet support Gmail forwarding verification or securely linking automatically forwarded mail to your account. Do not add our shared intake address as a Gmail forwarding destination yet.

An automatic forward can keep the original sender. Our current intake accepts messages sent from your verified address, so automatic forwarding needs a separate account connection. We will update this page when that setup is available.

Use manual forwarding when email intake is active

  1. Open Settings and verify the exact email address you will send from. Check that Email to reminders shows an active intake address.
  2. In Gmail, open a message and choose Forward. Send it from your verified address to the intake address shown in Settings. Include the useful text in the message body; attached emails and other attachments are ignored.
  3. Return to Email to reminders and refresh. Review extracted dates, select the event time zone, and choose Save reminder for each event you want.

Manual forwarding also requires sender authentication to pass. Messages must be under 150 KB. In the current email workflow, receiving a message produces a preview; it does not automatically save a reminder. If intake is awaiting activation, you can create a reminder manually.

Gmail setup, once ReminderStream enables this connection

These are Gmail's steps for a supported, verified destination. ReminderStream's destination-verification step is still being built.

  1. In Gmail on the web, open Settings → See all settings → Forwarding and POP/IMAP (or Forwarding).
  2. Choose Add a forwarding address. Use the destination provided by the future ReminderStream forwarding setup, then confirm.
  3. Gmail sends a verification message to that destination. Complete destination verification before continuing. This is separate from verifying your own email in ReminderStream.
  4. Leave forwarding for all incoming mail disabled. In Gmail's search options, enter a specific sender or subject and preview the matches.
  5. Choose Create filter → Forward it, select the verified destination, and create the filter. Keep your Gmail copy.

Choose what gets shared

Start with one sender and a narrow subject, such as school announcements about upcoming events. Review matching messages before enabling a rule. A broad rule may share unrelated personal messages with ReminderStream.

We analyze message text into summaries and event candidates; we do not maintain an application archive of raw emails. AWS temporarily buffers messages for delivery and retries. See our Data Policy for processing and retention details.

A Gmail forwarding rule acts as new mail arrives. It is different from the nightly assistant workflow, which checks selected messages on a schedule. Choose one intake method initially so it is easy to check the results.

Test and troubleshoot when available

Stop automatic forwarding

In Gmail Settings → Filters and Blocked Addresses, edit or delete every filter that forwards to ReminderStream. Also check the Forwarding tab and disable forwarding for all incoming mail if enabled, then save changes.

Stopping a rule stops future forwarding. It does not cancel reminders you already saved. Manage those on your reminder list, and pause any assistant schedule separately.
